An old-school DJ, ’strictly vinyl, no cds, mp3s or downloads’, his tune of the summer is Chromeo’s Needy Girl. He played from 6-9 in the nightclub area of the massive Chinawhite arena, on just before Jeremy Healy and the French laser artist (check out his clip on the Chinawhite Channel).

Sparkie is a regular festival goer and performer, evidenced by the fact that Sparkie & his Guests arrive at the Chinawhite Rock the Polo event straight from the Secret Garden Party festival - once again proving that DJs apparently don’t need sleep.

Given the popularity of DJing at the moment, as Sparkie says ‘you are never more than 6ft away from a DJ’, it is difficult to make a name for yourself. Although his heroes when starting out were Danny Rampling and Dave Seaman, the one to watch at the moment, according to Sparkie, is Davy Brennen ‘the frestest, funkiest, groovemeister out there.’

Sparkie’s set was pretty fresh and funky itself and, although he was competing with the sunshine (and Mark Ronson) he rocked a full room.
